The self-help contact point Krefeld invited us to the beautiful Muchesaal of the VHS Krefeld. One of the main topics in the lively discussion round related to the experience of relatives and friends, in whom a close person suffers from depression and the illness extends over a long period of time. Thanks to the openness of individual participants, it became clear that the long-term support of a depressed person is sometimes seen as very exhausting and draining. One conclusion of the evening was: “Relatives and accompanying persons should also take their own limits seriously and be allowed to ask for help and support if necessary.”
